The roses wilting
The roses wilting
Over the side of the glass
Sensed they had given up
Could not forever last
My sickening feeling
Inside of me
Sadness seeping out
Wanting to be freed
They look so tired
As if it’s the end
Flowers to one side
No way to mend
As I gaze down
Studying the floor
A tear leaves my eye
I can’t do this anymore
Grabbing the stalks
Piercing my hand
Throwing with force
Don’t care where they land
As I collapse to the floor
Feeling sorry for myself
I have given up
I need to find help
Where are you?

Girl in the rain
I see you there in the street
I can’t take my eyes off of you, just a peep
It’s pouring with rain five pm
You shake your umbrella again and again
You don’t see me, I’m invisible
Unnamed and in your eyes feeble
How do I get you to notice me?
Could our paths cross? Is it to be?
You light up a cigarette take down a breath
On your telephone, what you gonna do next?
You look at me, just a glance
I’m staring at you in a trance
A smile crosses your face is it for me?
I think yes, maybe it could be
I wave my hand just to say hi
You wave your hand too, It’s a lie
I decide to move to approach you
My feet don’t move stuck like glue
This guy pushes past me, knocks me down
I start to pick myself up, I turn around
She’s hugging him, that pushy guy
Just my luck, she’s not for me. Why!

I wait just to hear your next word
You have me here like a sheep in your herd
Spending time with you is effortless
I study your movements, every geste
How you talk, how you smile, when you’re happy
When we cuddle close, warm, hugging gladly
The silent moments never awkward, never too long
When we sing together along to your favourite song
When I joke and you laugh with your little dimple
And that spot on your face, your little pimple
You’re perfect in every way you’d ever need to be
That’s why I love you, and hope to stay forever happy

I dream of you
I have just one photo in my hand
Admiration for you as you stand
I’ve never talked you in front of me
You are perfect as can be
You cannot know me I don’t exist
We have never met, never kissed
You have your life I have mine here
It’s strange what I’m feeling, rather queer
You excite me by warming my blood
My emotions take hold and start to flood
How can you do this when we have never met
An impossible fact that I just cannot get?
You could be here or the other side of the world
Our paths would never cross, your beauty like a pearl
I can always wonder about about what it would seem
The moment we met and I awake from my dream

Money controlling you
Money, how it has control over us
It shapes our lives and causes fuss
Starting off with pocket money
Those little coins you find funny
In the shop what do you do?
Steal some sweets and run like a fool
Turn sixteen, mum asks you for rent
Get a job earning nothing, go on get bent!
Let’s move out, go get a flat
Overdraft sorted, in it, twat!
Credit card sorted, let’s go for it now
Two grand debt, well done kid, wow!
Oh I need a car, I need it today
Listen to no one, bought same day
Pound it at a hundred down the motorway
Pisses out petrol, firemen on way
Another debt, repairs to be done
Down the garage, oh what fun!
Debt piles up, more and more
Noting down what you spend, what a chore!
Try a bit of gambling, oh doing well
Roulette, poker, betting, lost, must not dwell
Ten grand now, more interest each payday
Can’t live like this, not this way
More and more depressed, don’t know what to do?
Hope for a miracle and hope it’s not you!
