New work

Cassanova

A boy once wondered if he ever had a chance

A beautiful popular girl with a caring glance

He wrote on a piece of paper his thoughts so true

He doubted how to give it to her, what should he do

She had never really spoke to him, not once in class

She was about to leave, he would have to act fast

He grabbed his bag to leave, as she walked through the door

Scuttling through after her, knocking her to the floor

Apologising clumsily for his involuntary act

Slipping her the paper into her sack

She ran to catch her bus, scared to be late

Just getting there in time, is this to be fate

He would have to wait and get through the weekend

Thinking about this girl, maybe a girlfriend

The days passed by agonisingly slow

Sunday night now, just one sleep to go

He arrived at class, not knowing what to expect

Would it be good news or would it be reject

She came into class smiling in her stride

He was beside himself, starting to subside

She sat down behind him, books on the table

Starting her day off as if it was a fable

The next time you want to talk to me, don’t knock me over

Try asking me out instead you great big cassanova

New work

That first step

If I told you that I love you

Would you love me back

If I went to try to hug you

Would you hug me back

If I smiled at you

Would you look in my eyes

If I never take that first step

I will never be surprised

New work

When she asks me

When she asks me to love her

I stay at work

When she asks me to miss her

I look at my phone

When she asks me to listen

I watch the TV

When she asks me to leave

I wonder why

New work

Just five minutes more

The cold mornings biting my toes

As I wish to stay in bed, body froze

Leave me alone, in the warmth of the sheets

Just five minutes more, I want to sleep

New work

Thirst of greed

We were once free

But now they are coming

Feet pounding the ground

Buildings shelled

Aircraft deafening

The sky has changed

A rancid black

Where has the hope gone?

What has happened to our destiny?

We have to help ourselves

As no-one else will

If you are able,

FIGHT

As freedom has evaporated

This will become our lives

Our norm

We will have to accept

Freedom will always win

But many lives will pay the cost

And the sea of red

Will be the consequence

Of a thirst of greed

Of dominance

Say a prayer

New work

Perfection as two

The mother stroked his hair

As she looked down

Crying she heard

The only sound

She looked in his eyes

As he cried to eat

Communicating

As he couldn’t speak

He latched on

His hands would pry

Without her

He was sure to die

All around

Destruction and doom

Bombs were falling

Not in this room

She cried to herself

As she took a deep breath

She held him tight

Up to her chest

He whimpered to himself

Tongue in his mouth

Teet finished for now

Has gone south

On her shoulder

Hand on his back

Burping loud

With a little tap

He settled down

Head in her hair

True perfection

Even in despair

New work

A little good news

It’s surprising

How a little good news

Can cheer you up and fight the blues

We stop worrying

Stressing so much

We all deserve a little good luck

We all need it

Positives in life

To get through it, it’s rather nice

Close your eyes

Take a deep breath

Enjoy this moment, until the next.

depression · New work

To for once have a voice

Looking for escape

From this rigid place

Impossible to go

Let alone evade

There is no door

Nor has there ever been

To think for myself

Would just be obscene

Trapped by all decisions

Weighing ball and chain

Never have enough

It has always been my bane

The air is now choking

Oxygen becomes gas

As I seek an exit

This sad story alas

My one last ounce of control

To make my own choice

To be a courageous coward

To for once have a voice

.

New work

Innocence stolen

Why does sadness weep within my pores?

What ever I see is immediately absorbed

It seeps in deep and swallows me whole

Like a wormhole, nowhere to go

I ache for solitude, to be left alone

I can’t even return now, there is no home

Torn away, ripped as a page from a book

My innocence is gone, it has been took
