The mother stroked his hair
As she looked down
Crying she heard
The only sound
She looked in his eyes
As he cried to eat
Communicating
As he couldn’t speak
He latched on
His hands would pry
Without her
He was sure to die
All around
Destruction and doom
Bombs were falling
Not in this room
She cried to herself
As she took a deep breath
She held him tight
Up to her chest
He whimpered to himself
Tongue in his mouth
Teet finished for now
Has gone south
On her shoulder
Hand on his back
Burping loud
With a little tap
He settled down
Head in her hair
True perfection
Even in despair
