I leave the home to walk a bit

To digest the day and breathe

All the heavyness that I feel

I need to be upheaved

A moment with the nature

For an hour or two

Until it gets dark

Or I haven’t got a clue

I need to empty myself

To push it all out

Release the negativity

The nuclear fallout

Oh that feels so much better

My time all alone

Think it’s time to go back now

To my family, my home

My voice so small

Do you hear at all?

My words I utter

Through my stutter

I just want to be heard

Just a few little words

Truth or dare, do you remember that?

Pumpkins alight and scary bats

Spiders crawling, creeping at night

Trick or treat, what a delight

Egging houses, toilet paper thrown

Grumpy people, cleaning their homes

Sweets oh so tasty, making us sick

Wanting for more, what made us tick

Dared by our friends to knock at the door

The old scary man, with all his lore

Opens up and shouts “trick or treat!”

But stops us, before we can speak

“I’ve got a dare, for all you tykes”

Come closer…….. BOO! WHAT A FRIGHT!

You can’t have enough

Even when you bathe in it

You’ve not had your drug

You want to be alone

Throughout all the day

You won’t go outside

Come what may

You don’t want to see friends

No not at all

Take the dog for a walk

Not your ball

You would rather stay inside

Drink and watch tv

For in our little head

It’s, well, to be free

Today I crave silence

To be with no noise

Escape the daily grind

Feeling like a toy

It’s nagging behind me

Slumping my shoulders

No power to fight it

My will like boulders

Showing its big white teeth

Take another bite

My soul laid bare waiting

No energy to fight

Devoured by darkness

Sadly for my heart

I was now in my hell

This was just the start

It takes a lot to be inspired, to leave your cosy shell

Some people find it easy, for others it is hell

Not knowing what to do, to let the words flow

How to get them out there, which way to go?

Put them down on paper, or trace them in your head

Sing em in the shower, or when you go to bed

Now isn’t that better? Bit of fun for the brain

It shouldn’t be a chore, let’s do this again?

Are you feeling down, world against you?

Pickled in turmoil in boggy stew

Life throws us curved balls, cogs in wheels

Hide if you will or dare to dig in your heels

What doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger

Use your mind, be creative, think a little bit longer

I may not be the best, you may be better than me

Hey hum, that’s life, you’re free to be free

Stuck in your job, no way to get out

Yes you can, they can do without

I am just a human in this immense universe

If you don’t fulfil your potential it’s even worse

You are great, you can lead

Others will listen and take heed

Change the world in a day may not be possible

But with positive thinking you are free and able

.
