A new start

Time whispering away

As snow patters to the floor

Chorus in the streets

Awaiting the new year

Saying goodbye to regrets

That we hold on to so deep

Cutting away through our skin

As we cry the tears we weep

Reflecting forever hard

On what cannot be undone

Trudging through the tormented life

Another year has begun

As the fireworks explode

In a chorus of hurrah

Forgetting all our troubles

Wishing they were afar

Stupid test

Oh I love to wear a mask

Oh I love to feel so daft

Feeling muzzled just like a dog

Glasses steaming with stupid fog

Now I’m waiting in my line

Like a sheep just stuck behind

Hey stand back! You’re in my space

Can’t you see my I don’t care face

I’m poking my tongue out, just for you

Oh darn it, did you see it, sorry, oops

Don’t hit me, I apologise mate

Can’t you see it was just a mistake

God we’re going crazy, what a bloody mess

It’s the new road rage, everyone’s upset

Can’t take a joke. Sticking things up the nose

I think about funny things, cheesy smelly toes

Now that passes better, that second of pain

Stupid medical test, Like it’s a game

It didn’t really hurt, that tear in my eye

Just a bit of dust caught me by surprise

Until the next time, sure I’ll see you again

It wasn’t that bad, even if there is no end

New work

The secret is out!

Is it normal I don’t have a voice?

Is it normal I don’t have a choice?

Is it normal you can touch me where you want?

Is it normal that I can’t stop you and you won’t?

Do I have to keep my mouth shut for the rest of my life?

Do I have to live with the torment, suffer the lies?

Do I have to watch on as you do what you do again?

Do I have to worry that the next person may be my friend?

I am scared but I will stay silent no more

I am scared but I was never your whore

I am scared of what you may do to me

I am scared but my conscious is free

The secret is out I hope you will be shamed

The secret is out, an end to your game

The secret is out, to be censored like me

The secret is out…

Innocence

Good morning daddy

Please pick me up

Hold me tight

I love you so much

Good morning daddy

I love your eyes

What will we do today?

Is it a surprise?

Good morning daddy

Are you okay?

You’re not yourself

Can we play?

Good morning daddy

You’re coughing a lot

Drink some syrup

To make it stop

Good morning mummy

Where is daddy today?

Why are you crying?

Can we go play?

1. Rhyming poetry to change your day

Money controlling you

Money, how it has control over us

It shapes our lives and causes fuss

Starting off with pocket money

Those little coins you find funny

In the shop what do you do?

Steal some sweets and run like a fool

Turn sixteen, mum asks you for rent

Get a job earning nothing, go on get bent!

Let’s move out, go get a flat

Overdraft sorted, in it, twat!

Credit card sorted, let’s go for it now

Two grand debt, well done kid, wow!

Oh I need a car, I need it today

Listen to no one, bought same day

Pound it at a hundred down the motorway

Pisses out petrol, firemen on way

Another debt, repairs to be done

Down the garage, oh what fun!

Debt piles up, more and more

Noting down what you spend, what a chore!

Try a bit of gambling, oh doing well

Roulette, poker, betting, lost, must not dwell

Ten grand now, more interest each payday

Can’t live like this, not this way

More and more depressed, don’t know what to do?

Hope for a miracle and hope it’s not you!

1. Rhyming poetry to change your day

I’m your daddy

I’ve had the text from your mum

In two hours ends the fun

I’m doing the washing up

Thinking surely too much

Starting to regret and punish myself

I imagine it’s not good for my health

You’ve been with us for twelve days

You’re going through a phase

It seems you’ve been punishing us

Fits, tantrums, sulks and stuff

Whatever your six year old mind can find

What are you going to do this time?

It’s been so difficult looking after you

Not always knowing what to do.

With the baby here it’s been a big change

For you it has to be a little bit strange

We talk to you often, try to explain

You rolling your eyes, us explaining in vein

I want us to get along, all together

But you change your mind just like the weather

I ask myself what can I do?

What is needed to help you?

Although it’s difficult and you can make me sad.

I’ll always love you cause I’ll always be your dad

1. Rhyming poetry to change your day

I’m kicking this habit, or am I?

I’m trying to kick you

Kick you out of my life

My life has been owned by you

By you and your addictive ways

Addictive ways to make me play

Me play with you all the day

The day passes by

Passes by without even seeing

Even seeing what I have done

Have done much today

Much today or any day

Any day with you

With you in my life

I am happy

Am happy and not bored

Not bored but this is pointless

Is pointless to stay with you

With you here just wasting my hours

My hours are mine, I have will power

Will power to stop myself

Stop myself from touching you

Touching you one more time

More time with you

With you just once more

Once more, oh please

Oh please, no must stop

Must stop this addiction

This addiction to you

To you, for the hold you have

You have me, but I am strong

Am strong and I will quit

Will quit from your grasp

Your grasp on me

On me no more, I’ve decided, I’m free!

1. Rhyming poetry to change your day

Life sucks

When you’ve had a bad day

You wonder which way

To go in your life

Argued with the wife

Your kids hate you

It’s their point of view

That nothing is good enough

That’s the way it is. Tough!

Your job sucks like a wormhole

You don’t like your boss, arsehole!

You can’t find another job

Cause you’re a lazy slob

Bills just don’t stop coming in

Overdraft and credit cards sinned

Your car has broken down

Your face starting to frown

Your phone is almost flat

Forgot to charge, what a twat.

That’s it, decided to quit?

Look at yourself, stop being a dick

New work

I will remember him

I watched him pulling up in his expensive car

I had seen him driving slow from afar

I offered to clean, with my water and rag

The window opened and there was a young lad

He had a toy tractor, yellow and green

This amazing toy my eyes had never seen

He let me play with it for a second or two

He smiled at me, then offered it too

I was so happy, by this boy’s geste

I searched my affairs with behest

I shared a sweet that mother had made

He ate with me, it made my day

The car drove off, he waved goodbye

I will remember him, till the day I die
