Dare to Defy

Rise up!

Life getting you down?

Chin up my friend

Your not crazy

Stop going round the bend

Stay positive

Live life to the full

Embrace your lover

Grab the horns of that bull

Cherish every moment

Even the bad

Do something different

Be a lad

Be adventurous

Do something daring

Life’s too short

You should be raring

No regrets

Dont you dare

Come on you

I wanna see your flare

It’s coming now

I can see it in your eyes

Your a joy to behold

Lost your disguise

It’s not for me

Do it for you

Go on my friend

To yourself be true!

  1. A lovely poem, Phil. I am thankful you wrote and published this, as I so needed to read your words today. I’ve been struggling with life in general and haven’t published anything for a week now, although I’m going to try to work on something I started a few days ago and didn’t finish. How are you doing now? This poem is really positive, and I wondered if this reflected how you were feeling at the moment, although I can see this poem was published in one of your books, so not recent.

    1. Hi Ellie, sorry to hear that you’re struggling, it’s hard when you feel like that. Mail me if you need to talk.
My shit is same shit different day, rough at the moment and not really feeling like writing at the moment so pulling up old poems from 2nd book. Life is hard, sleep patterns up the wall, appetite, weight lost 5kgs, taking anti anxiety pills when needed. Just in a living purgatory for the moment, unable to start writing the next chapter.

      1. Thank you, Phil. I appreciate what you have said. I’m so sorry that you’re finding things difficult, too. It’s fine to publish older poems and work. I have an older piece of writing that I was thinking of publishing, but it doesn’t really fit my mood at the moment, so I’ll probably use that at a later time. I’m sorry your mood is causing you physical problems like losing so much weight and feeling more anxious. I’ve got anti-anxiety tablets, too, although my doctor won’t prescribe any more as she says they are very addictive, which I knew anyway. I do feel I would benefit from these, though. Perhaps, I’ll mention them again next time I get an appointment, which isn’t easy these days. (Our doctor’s surgery has switched to a completely automated surgery, so appointments have to be made online and it’s nigh on impossible to speak to a receptionist unless we’re not online. The local residents aren’t very happy about it, as you can imagine). I do hope you start to feel better soon, Phil. I will be thinking of you x
