First impressions

Why when I cry does it never end

As I look at our first selfie

It has been merely days

But my chest tightens so much

When you touch my face

Just a moments embrace

Could satisfy me for an eternity

If we could stay forever

In each others arms

Why do you have to leave

Just an hour is too long

Like a needing puppy

I can only hope to cling on

I have only your scarf

With your sweet scent

To remind me of our precious time

Until the next time

I can breathe your air

My tears I cry for you

My proof of a joyful longing

To hold you once more

And this time

To not let go

Warmth

Oh how I hate the cold

The bitter morning

Leaving the covers a sufferance

As I scoot to the bathroom

Stubbing my toe

Silently cursing to myself

As I close the door behind

I can see my breath

Taking off my cheap pyjamas

Exposing my naked skin

It must be below freezing

Turning the four pronged tap

Hoping to myself

The water piercing

As is flows off my fingertips

And I wait

Anticipating warmth

Almost begging for it

With both hands in a prayer

Please let me have warmth

Unjust

A cold wet morning

Masked whispering

As I study the clouds

Rain tickles my face

As I take in the emotions

The bells begin to echo

And slowly they approach

Followed by loved ones

Emotions overpowering

Tears weeping

As brothers work together

Friends with reddened eyes

Children in silence

So brave, quietly crying

What must they be feeling?

So young to have lost

So unfair

So unjust

The immigrant

4. The computer screen

The computer screen blinks at me

Dusty keys touched by many hands

As if inviting me

Studying my reflection

Wondering if he has replied

I think about him often

Long lost and close

I could finally speak to him

Forever it seems he was distant

Now I could touch him again

Hold him in my arms

To tell him that I love him

But what will he think of me?

Would he be dissapointed?

Unable to protect his mum

A shell of myself

Unwanting for pity or shame

I cannot bear to look

Or be looked at

Not today or any day…
